Following government guidance at the start of the Covid-19 Pandemic, The Mooney Hotel Group closed the doors of its two hotels; Armagh City Hotel / Wellington Park Hotel, on 22nd March 2020, to protect the health, safety and wellbeing of all the stakeholders in the business, staff and customers alike.
In line with government lifting restrictions both hotels have now reopened under the most stringent health and safety controls as possible, utilising government and industry guidelines, to ensure the continued health, safety and wellbeing of our staff, customers, suppliers and contractors. Every precaution is taken to make sure our hotels are safe and welcoming, and we will have stress tested every eventuality whilst in lockdown to ensure our risk assessments are robust and effective.
There is an enhanced disinfection regime rolled throughout the entire hotel complex, staff are rigorously trained on our new and enhanced cleaning regimes, best practice working is employed in every department in line with up-to-date government and industry guidelines. The two most effective control measures of hand sanitising and social distancing is stringently enforced with all our staff, and guidance is given to all our customers utilising hand sanitising stations strategically placed throughout the hotels, in particular at touch points, and directional signage assisting customers with flow and distancing to ensure that the government recommended distancing guidelines are followed.
Following government and industry guidelines, the Mooney Hotel Group utilises all forms of recommended Staff Training, PPE, Disinfectant, Barriers and Social Distancing Protocols throughout the hotels to ensure safety for everyone, this is of our utmost concern.
It is our continued promise to ensure the health, safety and wellbeing of everyone, whilst still providing our superb level of customer service in our hotels.
> STAFF Every member of staff and management have undergone a full day re-induction programme into our new government recommended Covid-19 risk assessment procedures, and have been retrained in our rigorous cleaning and disinfection regimes. We believe that training our staff is the most important aspect in delivering a safe and welcoming experience to our customers.
A strict disinfection regime has been employed throughout the entire common areas of the hotels by front of house cleaning staff, continuously disinfecting all surfaces, including door handles, push plates, lift buttons and rails, banisters, counter tops, bar tops, credit card machines, toilet handles, soap dispensers, hand dryers, water taps, tables and chairs.
To continue to help prevent the spread of the virus, strict social distancing procedures have been introduced, with staff and customers alike required to maintain the government regulated social distance. There are directional arrows and signage to assist customers with this in every area of the hotel. Hand sanitising stations are placed strategically throughout the hotel, including all access / egress points, which customers are encouraged to use.
Furthermore, we encourage and monitor strict social distancing guidelines with all our customers, and, for the health and safety of all customers and staff, will kindly ask customers who do not follow these guidelines, to politely leave the building.
Our housekeeping team have been provided with the appropriate PPE to assist them in the safe cleaning of all our bedrooms. Our already impeccable cleaning regime has been further enhanced following our internal risk assessments, government and industry guidelines, to ensure not only are our staff kept safe cleaning our bedrooms, but that they leave the rooms impeccably clean and sterile for incoming guests. Working closely with our chemical and cleaning provider Ecolab, we use the industry recommended cleaning and disinfection chemicals to ensure that our rooms are 100% safe for our incoming guests. Not only are our bedrooms thoroughly cleaned for arriving guests, all touch points within the room will be thoroughly disinfected and sanitised.
There is only table service in our bars, with no standing at the bar. Our staff will provide a seated area for you to enjoy a drink, and all orders will be taken by staff and delivered to your table.
> KITCHEN / BACK OF HOUSE
The same procedures and disinfection regimes as in our customer areas are rigorously enforced in our food preparation / staff areas. All staff have undergone a temperature check on arrival, and our back of house cleansing team will be responsible for cleaning and sanitising surfaces continuously. Our staff continue to follow the EHO Guidelines regarding continuous hand washing, and our kitchen preparation areas have been redesigned to facilitate social distancing between team members. Each chef will have his/her preparation area, and when they vacate that to proceed to the service kitchens, these are thoroughly cleaned and sanitised by our cleansing team. All our service kitchens have undergone the same disinfection and social distancing changes.
All the hard work that we have been doing behind the scenes since the beginning of the Covid-19 Pandemic, is to reassure both our wonderful customers and our superb team of staff, that there is some positivity and light at the end of the tunnel. We have taken all the steps possible to make our hotels as safe as possible for everyone, yet still providing that wonderful level of service that we are known for. We will all, together, have to adapt to what, at least for the short/medium term, will be the “new normal” post pandemic. We are 100% confident we deliver this “new normal” to each and every one of our valued customers.
